New openings have quadrupled the figures registered in 2017 and the country of the great extensions of this type of spaces in the EU, with an additional 29,000 m2 in existing parks.
Spain is the second European country that opened more retail parks in 2018, after a total of 164,500 square meters of gross leasable area (GLA) between new openings -a total of six- and space expansions. This figure is four times higher than in 2017, according to the study "European retail parks: what follows" by Cushman & Wakefield.
The report shows that France has exceeded the Spanish last year, with a total of 354,600 m2 of new SBA (more than 35% of the European total) for retail parks. The third place in the ranking is held by the United Kingdom, with 116,400 m2, according to the report prepared by the real estate consultancy.
