Cuhsman & Wakefield launches Food & beverage lab

The Spanish catering industry is clear that the national market is the one that meets the best conditions to grow. The executives of the sector gathered by Cushman & Wakefield around the Food &Beverage (F&B) Lab agree in pointing out, also, that the Spanish model of "tapas" is hardly exportable, according to the colloquium " Spain as a national product and internationalization".

Fernando Tendero, Corporate Director of Expansion of Alsea Iberia , emphasizes in this regard that "we are in the best place in the world to grow. Spain is already complex, to think about other markets. " In a similar vein Fernando Nicholas, Co - Founder and President of Larrum B Group, who believes that "we must improve the supply in Spain and go dethroning archaic concepts expressed. We do not bet so much to increase the number of existing premises, but to improve those that already exist ".

Regarding the internationalization of the Spanish catering industry, experts also agree that the concepts that mark the Spanish offer are more difficult to export. David del Barrio, Puerto Banus Property Manager considers this regard that "the concept of Spanish cuisine is more difficult to implement, because of its unique and unmistakable mind identified with the region it represents."

Juan López de Novales, Investment Director of Nazca Capital, also agrees that "the 'tapas' concept, as we know it in Spain, is very difficult to export." Rodrigo de Bergia, Director of Asset Management l Mercado de San Miguel, says, meanwhile, that the market model "is difficult to replicate, although it is true that the upward trend of gastronomic markets in Europe and the world is a reality".

The F&B Lab of Cushman & Wakefield is an initiative of analysis and study formed by 15 executives referring to the catering sector in Spain. The objective of the same is to share trends, concerns and initiatives of a segment on the rise in recent years, through the generation and collection of opinions, data and relevant information by the different stakeholders related to it .
